About the position

The Senior Instrument and Control (I&C) Engineer I is responsible for expert-level estimating, design, and analysis work to support various projects. This role involves working as part of a project team from inception through construction completion, ensuring adherence to safety and ethical standards while managing multiple engineering tasks and projects.

Responsibilities

  • Independently evaluate, select, and adapt standard techniques, procedures, and criteria for engineering tasks.
  • Acquire general knowledge of related fields and function on multidisciplinary teams.
  • Work on multiple projects of moderate size or portions of major projects.
  • Design and conduct experiments, analyze data, and formulate solutions to problems.
  • Coordinate tasks with engineers, designers, and administrative staff.
  • Plan and coordinate detailed aspects of engineering work, including scopes, budgets, and schedules.
  • Assist with proposals to provide professional services or obtain funding for engineering projects.
  • Interact with project managers, clients, customers, officials, contractors, and others.
  • Attend project meetings and present specific aspects of engineering assignments.
  • Serve as discipline lead on projects, managing discipline work to achieve schedule, budget, scope, and quality objectives.
  • Prepare progress and status updates for discipline work.
  • Lead the design of facility I&C architecture and control system hardware.
  • Prepare I&C documents such as lists, reports, specifications, test documents, and datasheets.
  • Manage the preparation and check of entire I&C drawing and specification packages for construction.
  • Specify process instrumentation and perform industrial automation software development.
  • Conduct project site startup activities including process control loop checkout and troubleshooting.

Requirements

  • BS in Engineering required; MS degree preferred.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) is preferred.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification is desirable.
  • 6+ years related engineering experience.
  • Deep understanding of PFD's and P&ID's.
  • Proficiency in ISA standards.
  • Demonstrable success in the detailed design of industrial process facility I&C system architectures, control systems, control panels, networks, software, and field wiring.
  • Significant experience commissioning process control systems is preferred.
  • Experience preparing instrument datasheets and installation details for various process instrumentation.
  • Experience inspecting the installation of instruments is preferred.
  • Experience working within a computer aided engineering (CAE) platform is preferred.
  • Experience preparing FEED study deliverables and cost estimates is preferred.
  • Familiarity with project management software such as MS Project or Primavera is desirable.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to work on multiple tasks simultaneously under time-sensitive deadlines.
  • Excellent listening, oral, and written skills; ability to prepare and make project-related presentations.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in the Oil and Gas industry is strongly preferred.
