About the position

The EMC Test Engineer plays a crucial role in supporting the EMC laboratory by assisting the EMC Lab Manager with various activities, including maintaining ISO 17025 accreditation, conducting specialized tests, and mentoring EMC Technicians. This position is integral to ensuring compliance with industry standards and enhancing product development through effective testing and analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate products for compliance with customer specifications and EMC standards.
  • Support the Quality Operating System (QOS) and ISO 17025 accreditation as the EMC Laboratory Quality Lead.
  • Coordinate and support internal audits and performance history measurements related to ISO 17025 accreditation.
  • Conduct extensive EMC testing during various stages of product development.
  • Ensure tests are performed accurately using appropriate equipment and procedures, maintaining complete documentation.
  • Analyze EMC test data and prepare comprehensive test reports.
  • Develop and write test procedures and work instructions.
  • Identify and implement continuous improvements in testing methods and lab processes.
  • Train and mentor EMC Technicians in testing protocols and procedures.
  • Review product requirements to design and develop testing artifacts, providing input to product development teams.
  • Manage testing and coordinate with external laboratories to ensure proper execution and reporting of tests.
  • Perform data analysis on test results and present findings to development teams and customers as needed.
  • Interface with cross-functional engineering teams to ensure correct implementation of test requirements.
  • Participate in process action teams for global product engineering development improvements.
  • Engage in continuous improvement efforts and recommend enhancements to products and processes.
  • Generate and maintain validation engineering documentation to ensure compliance with company procedures and applicable standards.
  • Perform independent design of validation test equipment and conduct validation testing of products.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and maintain regular attendance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering with a focus on electrical engineering practices and principles.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in automotive electronics serial development projects and knowledge of EMC standards.

Nice-to-haves

  • Working knowledge of EMI Test Receivers, Network Analyzers, Spectrum Analyzers, Signal Generators, Power Meter, Oscilloscope.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of OEM EMC specifications (FMC1278, GMW3097, CS.00054).
  • Comprehensive knowledge of International EMC specifications (ISO & IEC).
  • Experience performing RE, RI, CE, & CI tests according to specified standards.
  • Experience in ADAS product development/testing.
  • Knowledge of configuration management and project monitoring techniques (preferably PTC/MKS).
  • Familiarity with problem-solving techniques and structured approaches.
