About the position

The Sr. Engineer, Fly-By-Wire position at Virgin Galactic involves working within the Flight Controls Department to design and develop the flight control system for the next generation of spaceships. The role encompasses the entire lifecycle of the system, from conceptual design through to flight tests and commercial operations, requiring a strong background in fly-by-wire systems.

Responsibilities

• Design fault-tolerant Fly-by-Wire Flight Control system architecture, modes, and behavior.
• Collaborate with safety to develop the monitor architecture. Tune monitor filters, thresholds, and persistences using analysis, simulation, and test.
• Lead development of system Built-in-Test (BIT).
• Review lab and flight test data to identify system issues.
• Determine root cause of system issues and propose corrective actions.
• Perform system integration of components.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of experience in fly-by-wire flight control system development, integration, or test.
