About the position

The Electrical Engineer position at Biogen involves providing technical support and troubleshooting for high-voltage electrical infrastructure in a GMP manufacturing facility. The role requires collaboration with various teams to enhance reliability and efficiency of electrical systems, as well as leading engineering projects with minimal supervision. The engineer will also support the design and commissioning of new equipment, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.

Responsibilities

  • Provide engineering technical support and troubleshooting for electrical infrastructure (3000KV+) supplying power to a large GMP manufacturing facility.
  • Participate in multi-functional teams to implement changes and improve existing processes.
  • Partner with utilities, HVAC, manufacturing, engineering, and maintenance teams to improve reliability of all assets.
  • Support design, specification, installation, commissioning, and qualification of new equipment and electrical infrastructure.
  • Develop validation protocols and provide expertise for equipment and instrumentation design modifications.
  • Lead electrical design on projects, ensuring adherence to project plans for commissioning and validation protocols.
  • Represent the department in cross-functional teams to address issues and implement improvements.

Requirements

  • BS in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
  • 7 years of transferrable experience in electrical engineering.
  • Practical knowledge of FDA GMP and EMA regulations.
  • Expertise in electrical power supply and distribution.
  • Experience with automation integrated generator backup power and 480V+ power panels.
  • Ability to configure variable frequency drives and integrate them into utilities and process manufacturing.
  • Competency in MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS SharePoint, and MS Project.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with low voltage control panel wiring and related software (i.e. Delta V, DCS, DAS, PLC systems).
  • Experience defending facilities procedures to regulatory authorities.
  • Experience in a GMP biotechnology/pharmaceutical manufacturing environment.
  • Validation experience.
