About the position

The Sr Engineer - Launch Infrastructure Strategy at Blue Origin plays a crucial role in supporting the planning, design, build, and maintenance of launch infrastructure and ground systems. This position is part of the Glenn Strategic Capabilities organization and involves strategic coordination across business units to ensure effective launch operations. The ideal candidate will leverage their extensive experience in launch infrastructure to contribute to both short and long-term strategic planning, ensuring that projects are delivered on time and within budget.

Responsibilities

  • Support long term strategic launch infrastructure planning for suborbital and orbital launch vehicle programs.
  • Support strategic coordination between the business units and the corporate strategy team.
  • Lead special projects, as required, to support strategic corporate initiatives.
  • Prepare infrastructure cost estimates, site layouts, conceptual explosive site plans, master plans, site selection studies, and analysis reports/memos.
  • Work with the system architects of launch vehicle programs to analyze infrastructure requirements on a near-term, short-term, and long-term basis.
  • Develop project management plans and lead project teams in support of launch infrastructure initiatives.
  • Facilitate meetings with internal and external stakeholders and provide periodic status reporting.
  • Oversee the solicitation, selection and project management of planning, design, and environmental consultants.

Requirements

  • B.S. in Engineering or related technical subject area
  • 10+ years of experience in launch infrastructure planning, design, project management
  • Experience working with State and Federal Agencies, such as Space Florida, Federal Aviation Administration, NASA, and the Department of Defense
  • Track record of delivering products, on schedule and in budget
  • Excellent verbal, written, and graphical communication skills
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident, or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Nice-to-haves

  • Extensive experience with infrastructure requirements for space launch vehicle systems, ground support equipment, site civil, structural, and support facilities
  • Experience with CAD and 3D modeling software
  • Familiarity with Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) commercial launch site regulations
  • Familiarity with National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) regulations
  • Familiarity with maritime operations
