The Senior Engineer - Liaison for Propulsion & Mechanical Systems will be a pivotal figure in the troubleshooting and resolution of technical issues related to the powerplant and mechanical systems of production aircraft. This role is essential for ensuring that aircraft are completed efficiently and effectively, serving as the primary technical point of contact for Flight Line mechanics. The Senior Engineer will be responsible for documenting the steps taken to resolve issues and creating comprehensive troubleshooting guides that will assist other team members in their efforts. This position requires a deep understanding of mechanical systems and the ability to provide expert guidance during troubleshooting activities, ensuring that all modifications and repairs are conducted in accordance with industry standards. In addition to troubleshooting, the Senior Engineer will be tasked with the disposition of non-conformances, adhering to the standards set by the Material Review Board, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), and the company’s internal guidelines. The role also involves preparing and updating work instructions and troubleshooting guides, which are critical for maintaining operational efficiency and safety. The Senior Engineer will assist Flight Line mechanics in identifying root causes and implementing corrective measures for issues related to powerplant installations and other mechanical systems. Furthermore, this position will support both Production and Flight Line teams in troubleshooting assembly and operational problems, ensuring that all aircraft meet the required specifications before delivery. Collaboration is key in this role, as the Senior Engineer will interface with Supplier Quality to monitor component failures and ensure that appropriate corrective actions are taken. Mentoring junior engineers is also a significant aspect of this position, fostering a culture of knowledge sharing and professional development within the engineering team. The Senior Engineer may also be required to perform other related duties as necessary, contributing to the overall success of the engineering department and the organization as a whole.
