We are seeking resumes for an Sr. Engineer - Process Control (1 Opening) in our Wallula, WA facility. This role supports the mill's operations and advanced process control efforts in planning, implementing, and developing long-term success of advanced control organizational strategies. The successful candidate will be responsible for identifying process optimization opportunities in all areas of the mill and facilitating their successful implementation from the standpoint of reduced product variation and costs. This includes dealing with application and software issues related to process control and supporting end users in application development. The Sr. Engineer will conceptualize, build, and lead in the development of breakthrough approaches that result in process improvements. They will manage control equipment specifications, sensors, vendors, and process control software development. Establishing and implementing area process optimization goals and monitoring performance will be key responsibilities. The role also involves applying control theory to design, test, troubleshoot, and oversee the implementation of new processes and equipment, as well as identifying and developing new control schemes for retrofits and existing systems. Troubleshooting hardware, software, and instrument problems while working with System Technicians, Instrument Technicians, and Electricians on advanced control systems is essential. Additionally, the engineer will create and implement new strategies to improve process efficiency and support start-up activities, while also being responsible for creating and/or maintaining automation processes and interfacing with all levels of mill staff to provide design, estimating, engineering, and implementation of electrical and process control systems. Coordination and facilitation of user training will also be part of the role.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • B.S. degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical, Bio-Resource) or Paper Science with course work in control theory.
  • 5+ years of experience in the electrical, instrumentation or process control field.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.

Nice-to-haves

  • Statistical Process Control (SPC) skills and a Six Sigma Blackbelt certification are a plus.
  • Proficient with Honeywell TDC and Honeywell Experion configuration and programming.
