About the position
Exelon is leading the energy transformation, and we are looking for problem solvers, innovators, community builders, and change makers. The primary purpose of this position is to develop and lead teams in various engineering tasks related to the planning, design, licensing, construction, commissioning, operation, and maintenance of Exelon's electric generation, transmission, distribution, gas, and telecommunication facilities/systems. This role involves providing consultation and recommendations based on studies of company or customer-owned systems, processes, equipment, and facilities. The position requires reviewing financial data from budget and actual costs of projects and providing technical expertise to strategic, legislative, and operational decisions. Additionally, the role includes training and mentoring others and may require extended hours during energy delivery emergencies.
Responsibilities
- Leads and performs assignments in specialized areas requiring extensive engineering expertise.
- Leads and performs engineering tasks and projects associated with critical or analytical engineering projects that require specialized knowledge.
- Evaluates, develops, implements, and leads projects with significant financial and operational impact.
- Participates in department planning, providing budget recommendations and monitoring performance.
- Acts independently while leading multi-discipline teams and providing oversight of contractors.
- Serves as an expert in a specialized area and provides expert opinions as required.
- Implements action plans to improve performance and cost-effectiveness based on management recommendations.
- Provides detailed technical training, mentorship, and guidance to others.
- Participates in technical and industry societies to enhance knowledge of new technologies and make recommendations for business decisions.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or Licensed Professional Engineer.
- Knowledge of engineering designs, principles, and practices.
- Ability to analyze and interpret complex electrical and mechanical systems.
- Knowledge and ability to apply problem-solving approaches and engineering theory.
- Detailed knowledge of applicable standards, codes, methods, and practices unique to areas of expertise.
- 7+ years of professional engineering experience.
- Thorough knowledge and experience in unique areas of engineering expertise.
- Ability to apply advanced engineering principles to identify and resolve complex issues.
- Minimum of three related career experiences or a Professional Engineer's License, advanced technical degree, MBA, or Project Management Certification.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience with GIS data conversion and alignment to Advanced Distribution Management Systems (ADMS).
- Proficiency in testing within QA environments and working with G Tech platform for interface testing to eMap.
- Strong query-building skills in GIS and ADMS to support data validation and interface accuracy.
- Familiarity with structured and unstructured testing processes, including identifying functionality gaps and managing variances.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate with OSI or similar teams to resolve variances and close functionality gaps.
- Advanced Excel skills for workbook maintenance and sheet management to support ADMS configuration.
- Subject Matter Expert (SME) experience in SCADA integration and specialized meetings to ensure ADMS functionality standards.
- Knowledge of legacy GIS migration and production environment readiness.
