About the position

As a Senior Test Engineer within our Test & Evaluation Program Team at Virgin Galactic, you will play a pivotal role in the planning, integration, and execution of various Test & Evaluation projects specifically for the Spaceship Delta Program. This position is crucial as it involves delivering test results across multiple engineering disciplines, including structures, materials, mechanical systems, avionics, and flight controls. Your expertise will be essential in ensuring that the projects meet technical, cost, and schedule objectives, thereby contributing to the overall success of the program. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, building, and delivering products that align with the established project plans. This includes supporting the development of these plans, ensuring they are executed within the approved baseline cost, schedule, and scope. You will leverage your extensive experience to help refine and deploy test processes that are aligned with industry best practices, ensuring that the team operates efficiently and effectively. Collaboration is key in this position, as you will work closely with various organizations across the company, including Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Business/Cost Management, and Quality. This cross-functional collaboration is vital to ensure the successful execution of your projects and to meet the high standards set by Virgin Galactic. You will report directly to the Test & Evaluation Engineering Manager on the Spaceship Delta program, making your contributions integral to the team's success.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build and deliver products that achieve technical, cost, and schedule objectives.
  • Support the successful development of project plans, including baselining, and execution within the approved baseline cost, schedule, and scope.
  • Leverage experience to help refine and deploy test processes aligned with industry best practices.
  • Collaborate with other organizations across the company (Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Business/Cost Management, Quality, etc.) as required to ensure execution of projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in test engineering or a related discipline.
  • Strong understanding of engineering principles and practices.
  • Experience with project management and execution of test plans.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in aerospace or related industries.
  • Familiarity with avionics and flight control systems.
  • Knowledge of materials and mechanical systems.
