About the position

The Apple Services Engineering team is a dynamic and innovative group that exemplifies Apple's commitment to merging art and technology. This team is responsible for powering key services such as the App Store, Apple TV, Apple Music, Apple Podcasts, and Apple Books, delivering a diverse range of entertainment options in over 35 languages to more than 150 countries. As part of this team, the Engineering Program Manager (EPM) will play a crucial role in collaborating with engineers to develop secure, end-to-end solutions that align with Apple's high standards and privacy policies. The EPM will be instrumental in driving projects across various areas of Apple Cloud Infrastructure, ensuring that services are built, maintained, and improved to meet the needs of millions of customers daily. In this role, the EPM will work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver innovative product solutions that shape the future of large-scale infrastructure at Apple. The position requires a proactive individual who can coordinate multiple projects across various locations while maintaining a detailed focus on interdependencies. The ideal candidate will possess excellent written and interpersonal skills, be highly organized, and have a proven track record of managing complex software deliverables. The EPM will also need to demonstrate strong communication and leadership skills, as they will be working in a complex environment that requires collaboration with engineering, design, and leadership teams. The Cloud Infrastructure team is fast-paced and ambitious, relying on open-source technologies like Kubernetes and proprietary systems to provide groundbreaking infrastructure that operates at scale. The EPM will be responsible for listening to diverse perspectives, surfacing innovative ideas, and driving decisions that propel the team forward. Responsibilities

  • Drive projects for various areas of Apple Cloud Infrastructure.
  • Partner with teams to build, maintain, and improve critical cloud services.
  • Coordinate multiple projects across different locations.
  • Ensure extraordinary service availability, scalability, and security.
  • Define standards and implement best practices to improve operational efficiency.
  • Facilitate requirements sessions, design meetings, and progress/status meetings.
  • Deliver large-scale infrastructure projects from inception to operational sustainability.

Requirements

  • 5-10 years of proven experience in software development project management for Site Reliability Engineering / DevOps / Infrastructure domains.
  • Exceptional organizational, project management, and technical skills.
  • Experience leading Cloud native Infrastructure programs.
  • Familiarity with Kubernetes is a significant advantage.
  • Agile project experience, with a background in SCRUM or as a Scrum Master is a plus.
  • Ability to prioritize features and technical roadmaps effectively.
  • Proficiency in delivering large-scale infrastructure projects.
  • Experience in process re-engineering.
  • Self-motivated and proactive with strong creative and critical thinking capabilities.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to represent at all organizational levels.
  • Ability to manage multiple simultaneous end-to-end infrastructure projects.
