Responsibilities

  • Work with suppliers and cross functional teams to develop equipment specifications, develop and drive acceptance tests with clear documentation.
  • Design equipment modules and components to improve current equipment for processing new materials and manufacturing methods.
  • Collaborate with a cross functional team to develop and improve equipment for innovative cell manufacturing processes from proof of concept to high volume production.
  • Identify equipment issues, design solutions, and implement them to enhance equipment effectiveness, manufacturing process capability, and reliability.
  • Conduct equipment DFMEA, identify top risks, and mitigate them early to develop reliable and robust manufacturing equipment.
  • Manage external equipment suppliers from initial proof of principle equipment development through SATs in high volume production.
  • Train operators/associates and create detailed SOPs.

Requirements

  • BS in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or equivalent experience with a minimum of 5 years in the field.
  • Proven experience in mechanical design of equipment parts/automation using Solidworks or similar CAD software.
  • Proficient in GD&T and tolerance analysis.
  • Experience in new equipment installations and manufacturing line startups.
  • Proven record of developing project plans and solutions for problems outside of core expertise.
  • Demonstrated experience in designing and integrating a variety of sensors (fiber optic, vision, etc.) and actuators (pneumatic, servo-driven, etc.).
  • Working knowledge of mechanical control systems and PLCs.
  • Experience writing manufacturing documentation: SOPs, maintenance guides, etc.
  • Strong written, verbal, presentation, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience in cell manufacturing, roll-to-roll manufacturing equipment, and automated mechanical assembly.
