About the position

As a Senior Event Manager at Munich Re, you will play a pivotal role in executing and prioritizing deliverables within integrated business support plans to meet the company's business objectives. Reporting directly to the Head of the Event Center of Excellence in Munich, you will leverage global best practices, tools, and formats tailored for region-specific initiatives as part of the Global Communications team. Your primary focus will be on strategically leading, managing, and executing complex, large-scale cross-business unit events, ensuring that the responsibilities of a senior event manager are effectively represented for high-priority events. In this role, you will coordinate and build alignment with the U.S. event team to ensure seamless collaboration and execution of events. You will steer the resourcing and implementation of event support within the integrated business support planning process to achieve maximum impact. As the primary point of contact for the Munich manager leading the Event Center of Excellence, you will represent the U.S. Event team as a key account to select c-suite business leaders and marketing leads, ensuring effective delivery of event goals and priorities. Additionally, you will provide guidance, support, and mentorship to U.S. event managers, fostering a cohesive and collaborative team environment. This includes managing the overall list of prioritized team events along with the appropriate event tier. You will implement processes and best practices to improve team efficiency and outcomes, such as conducting sunset reviews, vendor assessments, and feedback loops. Regular team meetings will be facilitated to align goals, strategies, and event plans, ensuring consistent and effective communication within the team and with stakeholders. You will also address and resolve any issues or conflicts within the team, promoting a positive and productive work environment, and assist with professional development opportunities for team members to enhance their skills and knowledge.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • 7+ years in event planning, conference management, and/or hospitality industry experience.
  • 5+ years of people management experience required.
  • Project management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strategic, creative, and analytical skills.
  • Strong negotiation, interpersonal, and influence management skills.
  • Ability to multitask.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft products.
  • Based in the Princeton, NJ office.
