About the position

The Sr. Event Planner at Interstate Batteries will play a crucial role in the success of the events and sponsorship team. This position is responsible for assisting in the planning and execution of various meetings, events, promotions, and sponsorships that align with the company's business objectives. The Sr. Event Planner will manage large program logistics, oversee smaller programs, and support the sponsorship team with ticketing and hospitality logistics. This role requires a proactive approach to ensure that all events are executed flawlessly and meet the high standards expected by the company. In this position, the Sr. Event Planner will conduct research to select appropriate meeting and event venues, arrange food and beverage services, order necessary supplies, secure equipment and signage, and ensure that the décor aligns with the brand's expectations. The planner will also propose innovative ideas to enhance the event planning and implementation process, serving as a liaison with vendor partners on event-related matters. Collaboration with the communications team is essential to ensure effective promotion of events through appropriate messaging. The role involves managing on-site production and decorators, coordinating catering services, and creating registration websites using Cvent, including design and content management. The Sr. Event Planner will also handle registration and housing logistics, prepare nametags and creative materials, and coordinate the shipping of program supplies. Tracking event costs and assisting the sponsorship team with race ticketing and hospitality logistics are also key responsibilities. After each event, the planner will close out all activities, including conducting post-event surveys, analyzing data, and distributing findings to stakeholders. Some travel may be required for this position.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • 8 to 10 years of corporate event planning experience.
  • BA/BS degree required or equivalent experience in Hospitality Management or Event Planning.
  • Excellent organizational skills and experience with project management.
  • Ability to manage multiple simultaneous projects and work assignments.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with high professionalism.
  • Ability to accomplish projects with little supervision.
  • Fantastic customer service skills and high expectations for quality.
  • Proficient in using the Web for research, event administration, registration, and procurement.
  • Experience with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams.
  • Excellent communication skills, including writing and proofreading.

  • Experience working with Cvent is a plus.
  • Experience with web communications, publishing, usability, and/or social media is a plus.
