About the position

The Hartford is seeking a highly skilled P&C Middle Market Underwriter to manage and underwrite a Middle Market book of business. This role involves analyzing agency books, applying underwriting guidelines, and acting as a trusted advisor to brokers and agents. Responsibilities

• Manages and underwrites a Middle Market book of business.
• Analyzes agency book on a quarter-to-quarter basis for potential action.
• Expertly applies all applicable underwriting guidelines when making decisions.
• Underwrites highly complex business with limited support from senior underwriters.
• Has thorough knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, and governance.
• Creates, drives, and executes strategies for new and/or renewal accounts.
• Acts as a trusted advisor and solution provider to brokers and agents.

Requirements

• 10+ years of P&C Middle Market Broker-facing Carrier Underwriting experience required.
• Demonstrated success in developing and maintaining solid relationships with all internal and external business partners.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
• Ability to think analytically about business problems, make recommendations, and propose solutions.
• High energy self-starter with resilience and an entrepreneurial spirit.
• Demonstration of solid time, organizational, and desk management skills.
