About the position

The Senior Field Applications Engineer at Thermo Fisher Scientific is responsible for developing and automating applications for dual beam microscopes, specifically tailored for semiconductor customers. This role involves direct customer interaction to understand their needs, provide support, and facilitate training post-installation, ensuring effective solutions are implemented to aid in critical process decisions.

Responsibilities

• Initiate and drive new applications to automate dual beam microscope functionality for semiconductor customers
• Automate applications using tools such as iFast/Python/Machine Learning
• Communicate customer needs to product development groups
• Act as a customer interface for specific instrument/applications issues, understand customer workflow needs, and assist them in applications development
• Provide customer support and applications training after instrument installation

Requirements

• Education: Advanced degrees in technical engineering or sciences preferred, or equivalent experience of at least 8-12 years
• Experience: Demonstrated ability in a research or development environment, with recent experience in small and/or wafer DB technology
• Proven track record in a semiconductor processing or equipment environment
• Hands-on experience with semiconductor manufacturing equipment such as DualBeam, FIB, SEM, or similar
• Knowledge of problem-solving techniques, operational optimization, and experience with analytical equipment, specifically electron/ion microscopes
• Clear communication skills, both written and verbal, for a diverse audience
• Excellent customer interfacing skills
• Proven ability to work well with multi-functional and cross-cultural teams
• Ability to travel both domestically and internationally up to 25%; possession of a valid passport
