About the position

The Sr. Field Applications Engineer plays a crucial role in providing technical support to the sales account team, corporate product marketing, engineering teams, and customers. This position is integral to developing and executing plans that secure and defend customer design wins, which are essential for achieving corporate objectives. The engineer will work closely with key customer contacts and internal teams to promote and support the company's products effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Generate new business (Design Wins) by identifying opportunities and promoting products.
  • Defend current business by proactively supporting existing customer accounts.
  • Build critical relationships with key contacts within customer accounts and colleagues.
  • Act as a technical liaison among OEM customers, end-users, and internal personnel.
  • Gather and communicate information on customer, industry, and competitor trends.
  • Provide training and troubleshooting services to customers and colleagues.
  • Mentor and train colleagues to enhance team capabilities.
  • Communicate effectively with diverse audiences.

Requirements

  • More than 5 years of experience in the semiconductor/thin film industry or more than 7 years in a related technical field.
  • Working knowledge of the thin film industry, including semiconductor and advanced coatings.
  • Knowledge in vacuum science, RF power/match networks, and plasma processing equipment.
  • Experience with computer-driven diagnostic equipment and data analysis using Excel or similar software.
  • Technical consultation experience for development projects and hands-on troubleshooting skills.
  • Intricate knowledge of wafer fabrication equipment used in semiconductor manufacturing.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with competitive products.
  • Specific knowledge of key customers and their applications.
  • Product troubleshooting to board level.
  • Experience with firmware/software.
  • Knowledge of industry standards and protocols.
  • Scripting or programming experience in MATLAB, Python, or similar.
  • Specialized experience related to temperature sensing, RF measurement, and etch/deposition processes.
