About the position

The Senior Finance Analyst, Plant FP&A will play a crucial role in supporting the financial operations of the Willard and Ashland manufacturing facilities. Reporting directly to the Senior Manager, Plant Controller of these sites, this position is tasked with providing comprehensive financial support aimed at enhancing profitability. This will be achieved through a detailed understanding and review of plant costs, utilizing finance tools and processes to drive clarity of results that will influence operations leadership. The individual in this role will be responsible for creating and maintaining a robust controls environment, ensuring that plant costs, assets, and liabilities are accurately represented. Additionally, the analyst will develop a strong understanding of the plant's performance metrics and identify opportunities for cost improvements. Key responsibilities include the development and accuracy of standard costs, which involves managing the bill of materials, item costs, labor routings, labor rates, and overhead assignments. The analyst will also prepare, process, and ensure the accuracy of month-end and year-end journals, scorecards, and reports. Daily and weekly KPI, labor, and plant process reporting will be communicated to relevant stakeholders. The role requires analyzing and modeling changes in product design, raw materials, overhead, and manufacturing methods to assess their impact on production costs. Furthermore, the analyst will evaluate and report on manufacturing efficiency variances, assisting managers in creating corrective action plans. All reporting must comply with GAAP standards. The Senior Finance Analyst will assist in estimating, tracking, and reporting costs associated with new product development and contract manufacturing partners. Utilizing FP&A tools and processes, the analyst will provide insights on plant profitability concerning production SKU mix, cost-saving opportunities, and process improvements. The role also involves developing, communicating, and maintaining cost accounting methods and procedures, supporting plant and corporate cost savings programs aimed at driving year-over-year productivity improvements. The analyst will review control procedures over accounting and financial activities, ensuring compliance with GAAP and SOX regulations. This position may also involve other duties as assigned, contributing to the overall financial health of the manufacturing facilities.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and ensure the accuracy of standard costs including bill of materials, item costs, labor routings, labor rates, and overhead assignments.
  • Prepare, process, and ensure the accuracy of month-end and year-end journals, scorecards, and reports.
  • Communicate daily and weekly KPI, labor, and plant process reporting.
  • Analyze and model changes in product design, raw materials, overhead, and manufacturing methods for their effects on production costs.
  • Evaluate and report daily, weekly, and monthly manufacturing efficiency variances to assist managers in creating corrective action assignments.
  • Ensure items are correctly classified and all reporting is prepared in accordance with GAAP.
  • Assist with estimating, tracking, and reporting costs associated with new product development and contract manufacturing partners.
  • Utilize FP&A tools and processes to provide analysis and insight on plant profitability regarding production SKU mix, cost savings opportunities, and process improvements.
  • Assist in developing, communicating, and maintaining cost accounting methods and procedures.
  • Support plant/corporate Enabler (cost savings) programs toward driving year-over-year productivity improvements.
  • Review control procedures over accounting and financial activities, maintaining an adequate system of internal controls, and ensuring compliance with GAAP and SOX regulations.
  • Support the Senior Manager-Plant Controller, Division Finance Director, and Plant Leadership Team.

Requirements

  • Working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Understanding of process flows and standard cost accounting.
  • Comprehensive understanding of financial analysis, including strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Collaborative people skills with the ability to build and maintain effective relationships at all levels of the organization.
  • Results-oriented focus and approach.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, and Word) and advanced Excel skills including the use of pivot tables and lookup functions.
  • Power BI creation and interpretation preferred.
  • Ability to drive process improvement.
  • Strong organizational and business process skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritize and work independently on a variety of assignments with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to accurately determine and meet deadlines.
  • SAP experience preferred.
