About the position

The Senior Financial Accountant will be a key member of the Corporate Financial Accounting team, responsible for managing and enhancing financial processes, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and supporting the organization's financial health. This role demands a strong grasp of accounting principles, excellent analytical capabilities, and collaborative skills to work effectively across various departments.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, ensuring compliance with GAAP and company policies.
  • Assist in the preparation of consolidated financial statements for the company and its subsidiaries.
  • Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and potential areas for improvement.
  • Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Lead the month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and variance analysis.
  • Oversee intercompany transactions and reconciliations.
  • Coordinate and support internal and external audits, including the preparation of audit schedules and responding to auditor inquiries.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal financial regulations.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of accounting standards and regulations.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and effectiveness in financial operations.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of new accounting systems and processes.
  • Work closely with the finance team and other departments to support business initiatives and ensure accurate financial reporting.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior accounting staff.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in accounting, finance, economics, or related field is required.
  • 5+ years of progressive experience required.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Strong analytical skills and computer skills, including mastery of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience with JD Edwards or SAP preferred.
  • CPA, CMA or master's degree preferred.
