About the position

The Sr. Financial Analyst at Central School will manage the budgetary needs of various administrative units within the School of Medicine. This role involves using data to drive analyses that inform financial decisions, ensuring effective communication with stakeholders, and advocating for the financial needs of the units. The analyst will prepare budgets, conduct variance analyses, and monitor financial performance to support the organization's financial goals.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with Administrative SOM units to ensure effective communication and advocacy for financial activities.
  • Support the budgetary needs of administrative units through complex data analysis.
  • Assist in the preparation of budgets and variance analyses for administrative units.
  • Analyze financial activities to aid in budget preparation and provide recommendations for financial decisions.
  • Manage the portfolio of administrative SOM units, ensuring the accuracy of their financial activities.
  • Monitor financial metrics and develop reports to assess financial performance and recommend corrective actions.
  • Train and communicate with administrative units to ensure they have the necessary skills and information for financial activities.
  • Collaborate with various stakeholders including the Director, Dean's Office, and other FP&A analysts.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business or a related field.
  • Five years of progressively responsible financial and business operations experience, preferably in a large and complex organization.
  • Advanced Excel skills, including knowledge of Pivot tables and formulas.
  • Proven communication, organizational, and analytical skills in a complex organization.
  • Ability to analyze data for budgeting, operations, auditing, accounts receivable, and reserve analysis.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in research financial management and clinical department business operations.
  • SAP accounting knowledge preferred.
