About the position

The Sr. Financial Analyst - Clinical will play a pivotal role in managing a substantial portfolio of clinical departments, valued between $300-400 million. This position is designed for an individual who can leverage data to conduct thorough analyses that inform financial decisions, goals, and performance metrics. The analyst will engage in regular meetings with departmental contacts to foster two-way communication, ensuring that there is a mutual understanding of financial activities and advocacy for departmental needs. In this role, the analyst will coordinate and manage the financial operations of various clinical departments, providing complex financial analysis and consultation. Responsibilities include supporting the financial business activities of these departments, which encompasses developing budgets, conducting scenario planning, performing predictive analyses, and creating financial models. The analyst will also be responsible for preparing and analyzing budgets, long-range planning, and financial reports, which will involve reviewing significant amounts of data to ensure accuracy and completeness. The position requires a proactive approach to problem-solving, as the analyst will advocate for departmental funding and staffing needs. Critical thinking is essential, as the analyst will monitor financial performance metrics and develop reports to assess whether corrective actions are necessary. Additionally, the analyst will ensure that department administrators are equipped with the necessary information and skills to manage their financial responsibilities effectively. Collaboration with various stakeholders, including senior directors and finance teams, is crucial to the success of this role.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a portfolio of clinical departments by performing complex financial analysis and providing financial consultation and direction.
  • Meet regularly with departments to ensure two-way communication and create advocacy for the department.
  • Support the financial business activities of departments including developing budgets, scenario planning, predictive analysis, financial modeling, variances, and forecasting.
  • Assist in the preparation of budgets, long-range planning, financial modeling, variances, forecasting, projections, financial plans and reports, and other types of complex analysis.
  • Analyze the financial activities of the department to assist in the preparation of departmental and school budgets, planning, modeling, and reports.
  • Provide recommendations to critical financial business decisions.
  • Extract financial data from various accounting and information systems to perform related reviews.
  • Monitor financial metrics performance, develop models and reports, and ensure two-way communications with departments to determine financial performance and if corrective action is warranted.
  • Ensure department administrators have the necessary information, skills, and support to perform their financial activities.
  • Collaborate with Senior Director, Clinical, other Clinical FP&A analysts, and various finance teams to complete daily tasks.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business or a related field.
  • Five years of progressively responsible financial and business operations experience, preferably in a large and complex organization.
  • Advanced Excel skills, with demonstrated knowledge of Pivot tables, formulas and other functions required.
  • Proven communication, organizational, and analytic skills in a complex organization.
  • Ability to analyze data for budgeting, operations, auditing, accounts receivable, and reserve analysis.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in research financial management and clinical department business operations.
  • SAP accounting knowledge preferred.
