About the position

The Sr. Financial Analyst for Expense Planning and Analysis at Fidelity & Guaranty Life Insurance Company is responsible for supporting the expense planning, analysis, accounting, and reporting functions for the company's operations. This role involves preparing and analyzing the annual departmental expense budget, managing expense allocations, and providing insightful analyses to inform business decisions. The position plays a critical role in process improvements and project work aimed at enhancing efficiency and control within the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Support company-wide expense management, including preparation of the annual expense plan and monthly re-forecasts.
  • Develop the current year annual forecast, departmental expense budget, and multiyear expense planning processes.
  • Assist with Expense Study analysis to monitor deferred acquisition costs and expense allocations.
  • Prepare senior executive level expense analyses to support business decisions.
  • Manage month-end closing processes, ensuring timely and accurate reporting of expenses and headcount.
  • Support SOX compliance and maintain an effective internal control environment.
  • Provide recommendations for improvements in expense efficiencies and cost-saving opportunities.
  • Assist department budget managers with accounting and general ledger inquiries.
  • Perform special projects as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
  • 4-6 years of professional experience in financial reporting, expense reporting, and/or analysis.
  • CPA certification, MBA, or on CPA track preferred.
  • Big-4 Audit Experience highly desirable.
  • Experience in the insurance industry, financial services, or asset management is highly desirable.
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel and PowerPoint is required.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting practices and principles is necessary.
  • Familiarity with client-server accounting/financial packages (Oracle, Hyperion Planning, Essbase, OneStream, etc.) is required.
