About the position

At Proofpoint, we are seeking a highly motivated and results-oriented individual to join our growing Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) team as a Senior Financial Analyst focused on Marketing. This role is pivotal in marrying strong analytical skills with a broad, strategic view of business performance metrics to drive advanced decision-making. The successful candidate will partner closely with our world-class Marketing organization, leveraging advanced strategic modeling and performance analysis to provide meaningful insights around expense planning, marketing investment ROI, pipeline planning, and generation. This exciting, hands-on opportunity reports to the Senior Finance Manager, FP&A, and involves frequent interactions with Senior Management of the company. The role requires quick responses based on business needs and feedback, playing a key part in preparing our annual and monthly forecasts and budgets based on trends and inputs from the Marketing organization. The leading candidate will also identify and implement streamlined business processes to reduce cycle times, allowing for more in-depth analysis of performance and financial trends, adopting a solutions-based approach. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include developing and maintaining deep, meaningful business partner relationships within Marketing and across the organization, fostering trust and collaboration. You will partner with the Marketing and Business Analytics teams to develop and implement marketing KPIs to assess the ROI of various marketing campaigns and drive the conversation of pipeline creation. Additionally, you will analyze operating and financial results, including monthly trends and drivers, using insights to update forecasts or highlight areas of potential concern with appropriate recommendations. This role also involves preparing monthly and quarterly management reporting as needed, including executive presentations, investor reporting, and other ad hoc requests.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain deep business partner relationships within Marketing and across the organization.
  • Partner with Marketing and Business Analytics teams to develop and implement marketing KPIs to assess ROI of marketing campaigns.
  • Maintain constant interactions with the Marketing team to stay abreast of current company strategy.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to manage headcount, marketing programs, and discretionary spend.
  • Analyze operating and financial results, including monthly trends and drivers, to update forecasts and highlight areas of concern.
  • Collaborate with Marketing HR business partners for headcount planning and understanding business needs.
  • Demonstrate intellectual curiosity and manage interdependencies on other company processes.
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly management reporting, including executive presentations and investor reporting.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of Finance/FP&A experience, preferably supporting GTM teams such as Marketing and Sales.
  • BA/BS degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Statistics, or a related field; or equivalent real-world experience.
  • Highly inquisitive and analytical thinker with attention to detail.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Experience in a high-growth tech environment (SAAS preferable).
  • Experience working cross-functionally to develop accurate and efficient operational processes.
  • History of managing multiple simultaneous projects with competing priorities.
  • Working knowledge of GAAP, including accruals and account reconciliations.
  • Strong proficiency with Excel (pivot tables, Vlookups, Index/Match) and ability to analyze large data sets.
  • Experience in Salesforce, Adaptive Planning, and Microsoft PowerBI is a plus.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in financial modeling and forecasting.
  • Familiarity with marketing analytics tools and methodologies.
  • Knowledge of advanced Excel functions and data visualization tools.
