About the position

As a Senior Financial Analyst II within the Medicaid and Medicare Behavioral Health team at Optum, you will play a crucial role in supporting financial operations for Medicaid programs in the Midwest and a national Medicare client. This position involves conducting profitability analysis, financial reporting, and providing actionable insights to management to enhance financial performance and operational efficiency. You will collaborate with various teams to ensure alignment of state funding with contracted services while working remotely from anywhere in the U.S.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct profitability analysis and management reporting for three Medicaid state programs and one national Medicare client.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for the Executive Director regarding financial performance of the assigned book of business.
  • Provide detailed analysis on membership and premium revenue.
  • Support management with actionable analysis related to benefit utilization trends, unit costs, and operational impacts.
  • Partner with the corporate finance team to establish program-specific pricing.
  • Perform monthly close analysis to understand monthly results against the financial plan.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams during the budgeting and forecasting process.
  • Support leadership in ensuring alignment of State funding with contracted services.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of relevant financial analysis or healthcare analysis experience.
  • Advanced skills in MS Excel, MS Office product suite, and other technology tools.
