About the position

The Sr. Financial Analyst will analyze and assign ratings to domestic and some international life and annuity companies, focusing on their financial strength. This role involves mentoring junior analysts and requires adherence to high standards of professional excellence, ethics, and integrity.

Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough, objective and efficient industry and company research on complex financial and non-financial information.
• Produce timely, high-quality credit reports to support assigned ratings, documenting analysis and recommendations.
• Present analysis at rating committee meetings, demonstrating good judgment in communicating rating recommendations.
• Conduct ongoing monitoring and surveillance of assigned portfolios, identifying early warning signs for event-driven rating actions.
• Stay updated with relevant industry, market, and professional developments through continued professional development and learning.
• Manage relationships with rated companies, leading management meetings and communicating rating outcomes effectively.
• Proactively identify areas for performance or process improvement and contribute to the implementation of changes.
• Develop a network of contacts in the insurance market for informal market research.
• Maintain or develop strong analytical skills through professional designations and continuing education.

Requirements

• 5 to 7 years of Financial Analysis experience in life insurance, rating agency, or related experience.
• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Actuarial, Accounting, or Economics.
• 3 plus years of financial analysis experience or related experience.
• Experience in conducting financial analysis within a credit rating agency, insurance industry, financial services sector, or consulting firm.
• Math, accounting, financial or economics background preferred with knowledge of financial ratios and financial statement analysis.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office with excellent organizational and administrative skills.

Nice-to-haves

• Advanced degree or professional designation (CFA, Actuarial, MBA, CLU, FLMI, FRM, etc.).
• Experience presenting in a conference setting.
