About the position

The position is responsible for executing complex financial analysis and driving business improvement across all key areas within Fifth Third Bancorp. The role serves as a financial leader, providing value-added analysis and recommendations to support business growth while also leading the education and development of less experienced staff.

Responsibilities

  • Lead peers in identifying key business factors impacting all lines of business.
  • Maintain an up-to-date knowledge base on existing and emerging issues to assist business managers in sustaining growth.
  • Develop recommendations and action plans to support growth and mitigate risks.
  • Execute financial analysis and drive business results through monthly report preparation and analysis.
  • Investigate and document unusual items in financial reports.
  • Maintain existing schedules and reports, documenting changes to information.
  • Evaluate and improve the design of reports and processes to adapt to business changes.
  • Develop trend analyses and quantitative reports to determine business trends.
  • Document financial plans and analyses for senior management meetings.
  • Establish and maintain working relationships with peers and management within Bancorp Finance and all lines of business.
  • Attend meetings to stay informed on current and emerging issues and risks.
  • Participate actively in process improvement and problem resolution.
  • Prepare and analyze the annual profit plan and rolling forecast for all lines of business.
  • Analyze business performance, recommend improvements, and measure progress based on outcomes.
  • Work closely with CFOs to develop metrics and variance analysis of actual results.
  • Assist in developing presentations and discussion documents to highlight business issues and opportunities.
  • Create and publish graphic metrics to communicate business results and status.
  • Assist CFOs with automating data collection, analysis, and communication.
  • Provide training and guidance to less experienced analysts, allocating work and reviewing their output.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in financial analysis and business improvement.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to foster relationships with management and peers.
  • Experience in preparing financial reports and presentations for senior management.
  • Ability to lead and mentor less experienced staff.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in the banking or financial services industry.
  • Familiarity with financial planning and analysis software.
  • Knowledge of process improvement methodologies.
