As a Senior Flight Test Engineer at Stratolaunch, you will play a pivotal role in the development and successful flight testing of the Roc carrier aircraft, which boasts the world's largest wingspan, as well as other high-speed test vehicles. Your primary responsibility will be to lead the mission control room team as a test conductor during experimental flight tests of the Roc and Talon hypersonic vehicle testbeds. This position requires you to ensure the safe and effective conduct of both ground and flight test missions, providing essential engineering support from the mission control room. You will be actively involved in developing test plans, schedules, and mission procedure documentation, ensuring compliance with approved launch license procedures. In this role, you will need to establish and maintain effective relationships with colleagues on a small, agile design-to-flight team. You will be challenged with bringing unique and complex aircraft from initial flight to operational use, and you will be empowered to take the initiative and responsibility necessary for success. Your leadership will be crucial in coordinating range, airspace, and support resources for flight test missions, as well as developing and documenting procedures for expanded mission control room operations. You will also support the development of test strategies and objectives, identifying test hazards and developing mitigation actions. Your ability to analyze and prioritize tasks will be essential, as you will need to manage and communicate test-specific vehicle limitations and flight readiness review actions. You will coordinate closely with vehicle engineering teams to define test and data requirements, ensuring that all aspects of test mission execution are covered. This position may require travel to support mission planning, launch approval meetings, and other related tasks, and you will be expected to demonstrate integrity, accountability, and initiative in fulfilling your commitments.
