About the position

The Senior Cost & FP&A Analyst plays a crucial role in supporting the cost and manufacturing accounting processes at Fluid Management, Inc., a unit of IDEX Corporation, located in Wheeling, Illinois. This position is integral to the financial health of the organization, focusing on the timely and accurate collection and reporting of cost and inventory-related financial information. The analyst will be responsible for conducting cost variance analysis and will work closely with the leadership team to provide insights that drive cost reduction and margin improvement initiatives. This role requires a strong understanding of U.S. GAAP, manufacturing and financial reporting, and Sarbanes-Oxley compliance, all within a growth-oriented environment. In this position, the analyst will directly participate in the month-end close process, which includes preparing necessary journal entries and creating a Monthly Business Review package along with supporting analyses. The role also involves preparing and reporting month-end manufacturing variance reports, analyzing bills of material for accurate product costing, and gathering actual versus budget analysis. The analyst will maintain a weekly key customer summary for the commercial team and support the annual budget, monthly forecasting, and SIOP processes. Additionally, the analyst will prepare quarterly EOZ analysis, contributing to the overall financial strategy of the organization. Success in this role hinges on the ability to build strong partnerships with business operations staff, ensuring that financial insights are effectively communicated and acted upon. The analyst will be expected to propose improvements in operations and working capital, demonstrating a proactive approach to financial management and operational efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Direct participation in the month-end close, including required journal entries.
  • Creates Monthly Business Review package and supporting analysis.
  • Prepares and reports month end manufacturing variance reports.
  • Build and review various daily/weekly operating metrics to monitor business performance.
  • Analyzes and reviews bills of material to ensure accurate product costing.
  • Gather and analyze actual versus budget analysis, manufacturing profit variance analysis, and actual to standard cost comparisons.
  • Maintains weekly key customer summary for commercial team.
  • Proposes improvements in Operations and Working Capital.
  • Supports annual budget, monthly forecasting, & SIOP process.
  • Prepares quarterly EOZ analysis.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting and/or Finance.
  • 4+ years of accounting/finance experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in a process-focused organization (Six Sigma, Value Streams).
  • Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and Advanced Microsoft Office specifically Excel experience is required.
  • JD Edwards (JDE) experience preferred.
  • Strong understanding of SOX and internal controls, especially in a manufacturing environment and general accounting concepts.
