About the position

The Front-End Web Developer at Markel is responsible for creating and maintaining user-friendly web applications that support insurance and financial services. This role involves collaborating with various stakeholders to define requirements and propose technological solutions, while adhering to coding standards and staying updated on emerging technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, maintain, and enhance n-tier Windows/Web applications using C#, .Net, Web APIs (REST/JSON), and .Net Core.
  • Collaborate with Business Analysts, Quality Assurance, and Business Stakeholders to define detailed requirements.
  • Support and encourage coding standards and practices.
  • Perform data analysis and troubleshooting to minimize software issues and ensure data integrity.
  • Build and modify unit tests for new and existing modules.
  • Provide data analysis, designs, and modeling for new software solutions based on business processes.
  • Produce relationship diagrams, entity descriptions, and data structures to present solutions to peers and business end users.
  • Work late evenings and weekends as needed.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of client/server and/or Internet/Web application development experience.
  • 3+ years using C#, .Net, Web APIs (REST/JSON), .Net Core, SOLID Principles, LINQ, Entity Framework, Responsive Web Design, and User experience design.
  • Strong comprehension of CSS principles and knowledge of CSS processors, build tools, and frameworks, preferably Tailwind.
  • Experience with .net UI frameworks (Razor/Blazor) and implementing Single Sign-On technologies such as OICD and OAuth2.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong organization and time management skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
