About the position

The Director of Product Management will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of platform-based software products tailored for the Electric Utility sector, with an eye towards expansion into other Critical Infrastructure and Enterprise markets. This hybrid position requires the individual to work three days a week in the Woodland Park, NJ office, while allowing for complete remote work during the last week of each month. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving the product strategy, developing go-to-market plans, and managing the entire lifecycle of a portfolio of products and services. This includes defining value-based pricing structures, building business cases for new product introductions, and collaborating closely with engineering and commercial teams to ensure timely communication of product features and market launches. In this role, the Director will also serve as the internal and external voice of the customer, presenting new products and services, and establishing thought leadership at industry events and conferences. The position requires a strong focus on market analysis and competitive research to identify differentiation opportunities, as well as the ability to lead the development of product requirement documents (PRDs) and product feature backlogs. The Director will also be responsible for growing the product team and hiring new talent, ensuring that the organization is equipped to meet the demands of a fast-paced and evolving market.

Responsibilities

  • Drive the product strategy, go-to-market plan, roadmap, and lifecycle of a portfolio of platform products and services.
  • Communicate the value proposition of new solution offerings internally and externally.
  • Build business cases and plans for new product introductions, collaborating with engineering and partners.
  • Define value-based pricing structures for products.
  • Present new products and services to customers and act as the 'Voice of Customers' internally.
  • Represent the company at events and conferences to establish thought leadership in grid and AMI use cases.
  • Collaborate with engineering and commercial teams to ensure timely communication of new product features.
  • Own and manage the entire product lifecycle from planning to market launch.
  • Partner with Marketing to conduct market analysis and competitive research.
  • Lead the development of product requirement documents (PRDs) and product feature backlogs.
  • Partner with Engineering to determine the vendor sourcing strategy for solution development.
  • Support sales training efforts and participate in sales calls as a product expert.
  • Grow the product team and hire new talent.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 8 years of product management experience with a proven track record of bringing new software products to market.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in the electric utility space, preferably with grid operations or planning products/services.
  • Experience managing utility IT and Cybersecurity requirements from both edge devices and cloud perspectives.
  • Knowledge of utility operational and enterprise systems and data integration requirements.
  • Ability to navigate uncertainty in introducing new software solutions and adapt to shifting priorities.
  • Understanding of mission-critical system architecture and security requirements.
  • Experience in developing cloud-based, managed network solutions for enterprise and critical infrastructure segments.
  • Insight into conceptualizing and collaborating on the development of cloud APIs and applications.
  • Ability to engage and present to senior executives, building consensus for product initiatives.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to foster collaboration and inclusion across teams.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills for building consensus and influencing decisions.
  • Strong quantitative analysis and financial modeling skills.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Computer Science.
