About the position

As a Senior Full-Stack WordPress Developer at Salesforce, you will play a pivotal role in enhancing our digital ecosystem by providing innovative solutions for the Salesforce website. This position requires a blend of technical expertise and creativity to engage visitors and customers, guiding them through their journey into the Salesforce ecosystem. You will be responsible for developing the components and pipelines necessary for the system that our visitors interact with, utilizing WordPress along with modern web technologies such as HTML5, ES6, CSS3, and Web Components. Your work will directly impact the user experience, making it essential to design, implement, test, and deliver highly scalable and performant products. In this role, you will master our development process, culture, and codebase, continuously seeking to improve it. You will operate effectively within a hybrid engineering model, where you will be expected to design and execute the necessary work to ensure quality in your code as well as in the code of your peers. Collaboration is key; you will work closely with a team of engineers, product managers, user experience experts, and performance engineers to build new features that our customers will love, ensuring that our trusted platform remains stable and scalable. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to mentor other engineers in development technologies, tools, and processes. Presenting your designs to both internal and external groups will be part of your responsibilities, as will reviewing the designs of others. You will also develop test strategies, design automation frameworks, and write unit and functional tests to drive up code coverage and automation metrics, ensuring the highest quality of our products.

Responsibilities

  • Provide innovative solutions for the Salesforce website as a platform to engage visitors and customers.
  • Develop the components and pipelines necessary for the system our visitors interact with, utilizing WordPress, HTML5, ES6, CSS3, and Web Components.
  • Design, implement, test, and deliver highly scalable and performant products.
  • Master the development process, culture, and codebase, and seek to improve it.
  • Operate effectively in a hybrid engineering model, ensuring quality in your code and that of others.
  • Work closely with engineers, product managers, user experience experts, and performance engineers to build new features.
  • Mentor others in development technologies, tools, and processes.
  • Present designs to internal/external groups and review the designs of others.
  • Develop test strategies, design automation frameworks, and write unit/functional tests to drive up code coverage and automation metrics.

Requirements

  • Experience working on large-scale, complex web applications.
  • Experience building enterprise sites on WordPress.
  • Experience developing in PHP.
  • Experience with modern HTML5, JavaScript (ES6+), and CSS3.
  • Experience with TypeScript.
  • Working experience with front-end frameworks such as React, Angular, Vue, or Ember.
  • Working experience with development tools such as Webpack, npm, or Yarn.
  • Mobile web development and responsive web design experience.
  • Strong understanding of web page and site performance fundamentals.
  • Strong understanding of web application security.
  • Strong understanding of object-oriented development concepts and MVC.
  • Experience mentoring other engineers.
  • Ability to take ownership of projects and multi-task.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate technical designs with clear documentation and visualization.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Technology, or equivalent experience.
  • Understanding of front-end testing methodologies, test-driven development, and associated frameworks (Jest, Cucumber, etc.).

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with front-end templating frameworks such as Nunjucks.
  • Demonstrated thought leadership around cutting-edge technologies.
  • Experience working within design systems, ideally as part of a team establishing and building that system from scratch.
  • Experience developing and maintaining analytics reporting and tag management via enterprise-grade solutions (Adobe, Google, Tealium, etc.).
  • Experience building web components.
  • Experience with build automation tools such as Maven, Grunt, or Gulp.
  • Experience building with internationalization and localization in mind.
  • Experience writing UI tests using a Selenium-based framework.
