In this role, you will have an in-depth understanding of engineering designs and operations of critical building systems and components. You will be responsible for promptly recognizing system shortcomings, troubleshooting, and responding to operational and emergency situations. Your duties will include conducting facility inspections, assessing as-found conditions, and reporting on any issues impacting client occupancy, operations, and safety. You will oversee operations, repair, preventative maintenance, and installation of new piping, valves, and plumbing systems, including steam and water piping, and fire/life safety systems. You will troubleshoot malfunctioning equipment and determine the necessary corrective actions to restore satisfactory operating conditions. This includes the installation, operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of machinery and mechanical equipment such as pumps, fans, and rotating equipment. You will also be responsible for rigging and moving equipment as required, as well as the maintenance and repair of locks, doors, controllers, and locking mechanisms. Your role will involve performing general building maintenance, repair, and restorative procedures as assigned, and conducting general technician tasks to maintain buildings and ensure their proper functioning. Additionally, you will maintain and repair single-phase electrical breakers, switches, receptacles, junction boxes, conduit, lights, and ballasts. You will conduct temporary emergency general roofing repairs when necessary and complete special tasks that include but are not limited to painting, locksmith work, tenant services requests, and general maintenance as assigned. You will also perform assigned facility inspections and due diligence efforts, reporting on as-found conditions impacting satisfactory client occupancy and operations. Responding to emergency situations for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns will be a critical part of your responsibilities, along with complying with all safety procedures and maintaining good housekeeping and safety of work areas.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct facility inspections and assess as-found conditions.
  • Oversee operations, repair, preventative maintenance, and installation of plumbing systems.
  • Troubleshoot malfunctioning equipment and determine corrective actions.
  • Install, operate, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair machinery and mechanical equipment.
  • Perform general building maintenance and repair tasks as assigned.
  • Maintain and repair electrical systems including breakers and switches.
  • Conduct temporary emergency roofing repairs when necessary.
  • Complete special tasks including painting and locksmith work.
  • Respond to emergency situations to resolve safety concerns.
  • Comply with safety procedures and maintain a clean work environment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; completion of an applicable technical training program is desirable.
  • 2-3 years of relevant experience in general building repair and maintenance, basic plumbing, and electrical.
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Possess mechanical and electrical aptitude.
  • Ability to obtain certification to operate powered vehicular equipment.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to interpret maintenance manuals and wiring diagrams.
