About the position

The Sr. Generation Engineer will oversee the Predictive/Preventive Maintenance Programs at plants owned and/or operated by Oglethorpe Power. This role involves planning minor generator outages, designing and implementing new mechanical systems, and providing technical support to Plant Managers. The incumbent will also assist in the development and execution of Capital Projects and ensure compliance with maintenance inspections and reporting.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the Predictive/Preventive Maintenance Programs at plants owned/operated or contracted to operate by Oglethorpe Power.
  • Plan minor equipment outages and coordinate the design, selection, and installation of major new equipment and systems.
  • Review and monitor annual mechanical inspections at facilities owned/operated or contracted to operate by Oglethorpe Power.
  • Serve as the OPC technical expert in mechanical engineering and predictive and preventive maintenance.
  • Provide business, administrative, and technical support for plant managers and other personnel as needed.
  • Assist with the design of new plant systems or modifications to existing plant systems, planning, budgeting, and performance analysis.
  • Provide services such as the review of drawings, specifications, design memoranda, etc., to generation projects in development or under construction.
  • Assist with the development and execution of Capital Projects.
  • Write annual reports for facilities owned and/or operated by Oglethorpe Power.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or engineering technology (preferably BSME).
  • 10+ years minimum engineering experience in an operating commercial electric power generating plant.
  • 5 years minimum preventive and predictive maintenance experience in an operating commercial electric power generating plant.
  • Technical and business knowledge of generating plant operation, performance, and economics.
  • Ability to work directly with the Plant Manager and senior plant staff.

Nice-to-haves

  • Professional Engineering (PE) license preferred.
  • Level II Vibration Analyst certification desired.
