About the position

As a CBRE GL Accounting Sr. Manager, you will lead a large team that is responsible for providing oversight of the financial performance of clients. This role is integral to the Controlling job function, focusing on the management of the organization's financial controls and the preparation of financial reports for management and shareholders. You will be tasked with ensuring that the financial operations align with the strategic goals of the organization, while also maintaining compliance with relevant regulations and standards. In this position, you will provide formal supervision to employees, which includes monitoring their training and development, conducting performance evaluations, and coaching them to enhance their skills. You will coordinate and lead the team's daily activities, establishing work schedules, assigning tasks, and ensuring that staff are cross-trained effectively. Your leadership will be crucial in setting and tracking deadlines for both staff and the department, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment. You will also play a key role in creating a positive customer experience by maintaining open and constructive lines of communication. This includes reviewing the work handled by junior team members and providing mentorship as needed. Your responsibilities will extend to preparing complex financial statements and approving audit and tax preparation documents, ensuring accuracy and compliance. As the point of contact for the implementation and maintenance of accounting and reporting systems, you will provide technical expertise and assist executive management with strategic initiatives. You will review and verify financial information, including monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, prior to submission to high-profile clients. Your ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex issues will be essential in ensuring that internal and external customer requests are handled promptly and accurately. In addition to these responsibilities, you will monitor financial performance and provide strategic advice to the executive management team, applying your broad knowledge of the business and understanding how your area integrates with others to achieve departmental objectives. You will lead by example, modeling behaviors consistent with CBRE's RISE values, and influence others to adopt new perspectives while adhering to policies and departmental plans. Your role will also involve identifying and solving technical and operational problems, as well as improving existing methods and processes within your area of expertise.

Responsibilities

  • Provide formal supervision to employees and monitor their training and development.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and coaching for team members.
  • Lead all aspects of recruiting and hiring new employees.
  • Coordinate and lead the team's daily activities, establishing work schedules and assigning tasks.
  • Set and track staff and department deadlines, mentoring and coaching as needed.
  • Create a positive customer experience by maintaining constructive communication.
  • Review items handled by junior team members and provide coaching as necessary.
  • Prepare periodic complex financial statements and approve audit and tax preparation documents.
  • Act as the point of contact for the implementation and maintenance of accounting and reporting systems.
  • Assist executive management with the implementation of strategic department and corporate initiatives.
  • Review and verify financial information prior to submission to clients.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues, ensuring timely and accurate handling of requests.
  • Monitor financial performance and provide strategic advice to executive management.
  • Apply broad knowledge of the business and integrate with other areas to achieve objectives.
  • Model behaviors consistent with CBRE RISE values and influence others accordingly.
  • Identify and solve technical and operational problems of complexity.
  • Improve and change existing methods, processes, and standards within the job subject area.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred with 5 - 8 years of relevant experience; a combination of experience and education will be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Experience in staffing, selection, training, development, coaching, mentoring, measuring, appraising, and rewarding performance and retention is preferred.
  • Ability to lead the exchange of sensitive and complicated information and handle performance expectations.
  • Leadership skills to motivate the team to achieve operational targets.
  • In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Extensive organizational skills and an advanced inquisitive approach.
  • Intermediate math skills, including the ability to calculate complicated figures.
