About the position

As a Government Business Development Representative at Polaris Inc., you will be responsible for driving business development efforts primarily for federal government agencies, while also engaging with state and local government customers. This role involves shaping long-range planning processes, delivering accurate forecasts, achieving sales targets, and developing effective strategies for capturing new business opportunities. You will work collaboratively with a skilled team to align Polaris solutions with customer needs and ensure business profitability.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive understanding of government customer needs and acquisition strategies.
  • Guide and collaborate with sales and business development teams to align solutions with customer opportunities.
  • Proactively seek out new business opportunities and create compelling business cases.
  • Incorporate customer insights into business planning and forecasting processes.
  • Identify customer needs and potential product gaps, and find champions within customer organizations.
  • Drive new business through vehicle, part, accessory, and service sales to government customers.
  • Develop and execute win strategies and tactical plans for business development.
  • Establish capture teams with internal and external resources as needed.
  • Conduct competitive assessments and develop execution plans based on research and analysis.
  • Create and execute product demos and training sessions for customers and partners.
  • Lead the execution of capture plans and conduct business gate reviews.

Requirements

  • B.A/B.S. degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
  • 7+ years of military, federal, state, or local government experience or relevant company experience.
  • 5+ years of experience related to government contracts for purchasing equipment.
  • Proven technical aptitude to understand Polaris products and communicate technical issues.
  • Excellent negotiation and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent communication skills and customer focus.
  • Self-starter and problem solver.

Nice-to-haves

  • Previous federal, state, or local government employee in a role that utilized ATVs or UTVs.
  • Previous government contractor experience.
  • Masters in business.
