The Sr. Graphics Designer at the University of Houston is responsible for researching, conceiving, and designing various university and departmental publications, as well as other print and electronic communication vehicles. The designer will oversee publication and communication projects from concept to completion, translating marketing objectives into creative strategies as assigned. In this position, the designer will create and execute design concepts, developing artwork for materials such as brochures, invitations, and identity programs. A critical aspect of the role is monitoring university advertising to ensure adherence to graphic and branding standards. The designer will consult with clients to evaluate project needs, prepare cost and time estimates, and review printed materials to ensure quality control. Collaboration is key, as the designer will work closely with writers, editors, marketing professionals, photographers, and other designers to meet strategic objectives. Additionally, the designer will serve as the primary liaison with vendors for communication projects, ensuring quality, customer satisfaction, and adherence to university standards. Providing art direction for both internal and outsourced projects is also part of the role, along with making recommendations for effective methods to meet client objectives. The designer will serve as a team lead on assigned design projects and perform other job-related duties as necessary.
