About the position

As a Senior Hardware Design Engineer at Honeywell, you will be part of a dynamic team within the Communication, Navigation and Surveillance (CNS) organization, which is renowned for designing, building, and maintaining some of the most valued safety systems in the Aerospace industry. This role is pivotal in delivering high-quality products for commercial avionics, including transponders, Traffic Collision Avoidance Systems (TCAS), and Integrated Surveillance Systems. You will collaborate closely with design and production teams located in Olathe, Kansas, and Phoenix, Arizona, focusing on the design, development, electronic testing, and advanced manufacturing engineering of cutting-edge avionics technologies. In this position, you will support the Olathe production site by driving hardware design improvements and developing new hardware designs specifically for Traffic and Surveillance Avionics products. Your responsibilities will include leading design activities for new product development, guiding the development process to create artifacts that comply with FAA/EASA requirements, and staying abreast of the latest advancements in hardware engineering to apply them effectively to product designs. Additionally, you will support Honeywell leadership and customer meetings, ensuring that all design efforts align with organizational goals and customer expectations. This role requires a strong understanding of hardware engineering standards and specifications, as well as the ability to communicate technical concepts effectively to management and customers. You will also be responsible for resolving manufacturing-related issues and overseeing hardware qualification testing, making timely decisions in an ambiguous environment, and demonstrating a continuous drive for improvement in all aspects of your work.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Olathe production site on hardware design improvements and new hardware designs for Traffic and Surveillance Avionics products.
  • Drive design activities in the development of new products working with design teams in Arizona.
  • Lead hardware design efforts supporting manufacturing on RCCAs to improve factory first pass yields.
  • Guide the development process and create artifacts that meet FAA/EASA requirements.
  • Stay updated with the latest advancements in hardware engineering and apply them to product designs.
  • Support Honeywell Leadership and Honeywell customer meetings.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in hardware development, electrical or system level engineering, or hardware systems experience.
  • Understanding of a variety of hardware engineering standards and specifications.
  • Strong knowledge of hardware design principles and methodologies.
  • Strong knowledge of product and process technologies or broad knowledge of multiple product and process technologies.
  • Aerospace Industry experience or related preferable (knowledge of TCAS, Transponder, RF, Integrated Surveillance Systems, GPS, Avionics or related products).
  • Familiarity with FAA certification processes is a plus.
  • Experience with resolving manufacturing related issues and customer returns.
  • Experience with oversight of hardware qualification testing.
  • Ability to communicate project status and technical concepts with Management and Customers.
  • Ability to consistently demonstrate business impact and continuous drive for improvement.
  • Ability to consistently make timely decisions and balance systematic analysis with decisiveness in an ambiguous environment.
  • Lead factory interface and product introduction.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in the Aerospace industry or related fields.
