About the position

The Sr. Hardware Design Engineer at Motorola Solutions is responsible for the development of hardware products, specifically focusing on Body Worn Cameras and in-vehicle camera systems. This role involves utilizing advanced design tools and methodologies to create and maintain schematics and layouts, ensuring high-speed signal integrity and effective component integration. The engineer will work collaboratively within the Evidence Engineering Devices department to contribute to mission-critical communications technologies that enhance safety and security.

Responsibilities

  • Develop hardware products for Body Worn Cameras and in-vehicle camera systems.
  • Utilize Orcad for schematic capture and component creation.
  • Create component footprints and board layouts using Allegro Cadence.
  • Maintain the Allegro Cadence part library.
  • Design alternative components to support production and new development.
  • Implement switching analog power supply designs and high-speed digital layouts.
  • Ensure good design practices for high-speed signal integrity and RF coexistence.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering
  • 7+ years of hardware development experience
  • Excellent methodical organizational skills
  • Ability to use advanced test equipment to verify designs.

Nice-to-haves

  • Orcad schematic capture and Allegro Cadence layout capabilities
  • System level thought process
  • Understanding of high-speed layouts and signal integrity
  • Experience with switch power supplies and signal integrity board layout methods
  • Video product development experience.
