About the position

Apple is seeking a highly motivated Senior Hardware Development Engineer to join the Display Technologies Organization. This role focuses on the technology development of new display and optical module architectures for future Apple products. The engineer will work in a fast-paced, multi-disciplinary team environment, contributing to the development of innovative module concepts and technologies that will enable next-generation product architectures.

Responsibilities

  • Define technical work scope and drive technical directions for new module technologies.
  • Initiate and develop challenging design architectures in display and optics.
  • Design, build, test, and refine hardware prototypes and systems in MTC's labs.
  • Drive process development in MTC's labs, including resource planning and empirical validation trials.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align development strategies and demonstrate technical results to executives.

Requirements

  • B.S. degree in Optical, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant industry experience.
  • Experience in driving technology development projects in R&D environments.
  • Proficiency in designing, building, and optimizing optical and opto-mechanical systems and prototypes.
  • Experience in process development, characterization, and data analysis.

Nice-to-haves

  • Advanced Degree (M.S. or Ph.D.) in Optical, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
  • Hands-on experience in opto-mechanical systems and optical science.
  • Familiarity with optical simulation tools (e.g., Zemax).
  • Knowledge of data processing and statistical tools using Matlab or Python.
  • Experience in optical component and module manufacturing processes.
  • Additional knowledge in mechanical design (3D CAD) or control systems.
