About the position

The Sr. Hardware Development Engineer in Grocery Robotics and Automation Systems at Amazon is responsible for leading the technical development of innovative hardware solutions for e-commerce operations. This role involves collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams to define product requirements, execute testing, and ensure product reliability, while also mentoring junior engineers and interns.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as technical lead within a multi-disciplinary team that includes vendors, integrators, and software engineers.
  • Develop emerging requirements for products and write papers for senior management.
  • Drive product definition, execution, and testing.
  • Identify and validate product risks and work with the team to mitigate them.
  • Define test methodology and test coverage to assure product reliability.
  • Perform test validation of next-generation products.
  • Interface with engineering managers, product management, and program management to drive new product development programs from concept to deployment.
  • Engage with vendors and technology suppliers to evaluate and select technology applicable to the e-commerce industry.
  • Conduct verification testing and performance validation for new products.
  • Provide up-to-date, accurate information to colleagues and management.
  • Mentor and coach new engineers and interns.

Requirements

  • Experience in developing functional specifications, design verification plans, and functional test procedures.
  • Experience working with interdisciplinary teams to execute product design from concept to production.
  • Experience in server technologies such as thermal, mechanical, power, and signal integrity.
  • Experience in component selection and understanding of component reliability.
  • Experience collaborating with the ECAD/physical board designer and able to review PCB designs with Allegro, CAM350, or equivalent.
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Robotics, Mechatronics, or similarly related engineering discipline.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or equivalent.
  • Experience with the project management of technical projects.
  • 7+ years' experience in system design, integration of hardware solutions, robotics, industrial production, or other mechatronics in manufacturing or E-Commerce industry as an engineer.
