About the position
The Senior Hardware Design Engineer at Sanmina will be responsible for designing high-performance optical data transceivers for AI, high-speed computing, and datacom markets. This role involves leading technical development with a multi-disciplinary team and addressing design challenges related to data rates, power density, and thermal management.
Responsibilities
- Lead the technical development with a multi-disciplinary team (electrical, PCB layout, mechanical, software, thermal, Signal Integrity, micro-electronic, and test engineering)
- PCB & Electrical design of electro-optical transceivers
- PCB design, including circuit design, schematic capture, and guiding the PCB layout engineer
- Work closely with Signal Integrity and Power Integrity engineers to simulate the performance of the design
- Determine the correct PCB materials, board stackup, and trace geometries needed to meet performance specs
- Power distribution and dissipation estimation and analysis
- Co-develop the HW/SW IO architecture with SW engineering
- Work closely with PCB fabricators and PCBA assemblers to ensure manufacturability
- Guide the test development team, planning, and perform engineering checkout of prototypes
- Participate in design reviews and regular status meetings
- Assist with project planning, estimation, and budgeting
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or relevant experience
- 12 years of design experience
- Strong and clear communicator, able to capture and communicate complex concepts
- Ability to work well with team members, suppliers, and partners
- Detail-oriented with high-quality outputs
