About the position

The Senior Hardware Design Engineer will be a key member of the Embedded Electronics Design Group, responsible for leading and executing complex circuit design projects. This role requires a strong foundation in electrical engineering principles and the ability to work collaboratively within cross-functional teams. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in designing sophisticated systems using advanced FPGAs, processors, or SOCs, and will be capable of managing PCB designs with minimal oversight.

Responsibilities

  • Designing system architecture and producing detailed documentation
  • Conducting detailed electrical analysis, design, and schematic capture
  • Managing PCB layout design resources
  • Bringing up prototypes and performing debugging
  • Conducting functional verification
  • Characterizing performance

Requirements

  • BSEE required; MSEE preferred
  • 7+ years of relevant experience
  • Strong EE fundamentals and excellent analysis and problem-solving skills
  • Experience designing PCBs that integrate state-of-the-art processors, FPGAs, and SOCs
  • Familiarity with small embedded digital/analog systems, especially low-power embedded processors
  • Experience designing power distribution networks for state-of-the-art processors, FPGAs, or SOCs
  • Simulation and verification of power distribution networks using tools such as Ansys SIwave
  • Design experience with high-speed communication and/or memory interfaces
  • Ability to develop layout guidelines and verify design and signal integrity using tools such as Hyperlinx
  • Experience in system integration, processor selection, analog integration, sensor design and integration, data acquisition, sampling and control theory, digital signal processing techniques, and low power design
  • Basic understanding of programming languages such as C and VHDL

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Xilinx Virtex/Zync/Ultrascale, Microsemi Smartfusion/PolarFire, Intel Stratix 10 devices
  • Experience in signal integrity, power integrity, system grounding/shielding and EMI mitigation techniques
