About the position

As a Senior Hardware Software QA Engineer at Kohler Ventures, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the quality and reliability of our innovative products. Kohler Ventures is dedicated to building new digital businesses that empower consumers to lead healthier lives through the integration of cutting-edge technology, science, and design. In this hybrid position, you will work closely with a multi-disciplinary team that includes experts in artificial intelligence, machine learning, design, and advanced software and hardware engineering. Your primary responsibilities will include establishing testing patterns and best practices, increasing test coverage in collaboration with engineers, and conducting technical reviews for new features to identify quality concerns. You will also participate in various scrum meetings to provide valuable input on functional requirements, product designs, schedules, estimates, and potential problems. This role requires a proactive approach to quality assurance, ensuring that our products meet the highest standards before they reach our consumers.

Responsibilities

  • Establish testing patterns and best practices to enhance product quality.
  • Increase test coverage in partnership with engineering teams.
  • Conduct technical reviews for new features and identify quality concerns.
  • Participate in scrum meetings to provide input on functional requirements and product designs.
  • Collaborate with teams and vendors across multiple time zones.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience as a Software QA Engineer.
  • Experience with functional, regression, and end-to-end testing for hardware components.
  • Experience with test automation tools/frameworks for hardware/firmware validation.
  • Experience validating embedded firmware for IoT devices.
  • Ability to translate business requirements into test plans and develop test automations at all layers.
  • Availability to work outside of standard business hours to collaborate with teams across multiple time zones.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge in hardware/firmware and information security for cloud and IoT devices.
  • Experience in development using scripting programming languages, preferably Python.
