About the position
The Sr Healthcare Economics Consultant, Network Pricing role at Optum involves supporting the design and development of analytics and financial modeling to enhance provider and payor network contracting and trend management. The position requires strong analytical skills, effective communication, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment. The consultant will be responsible for producing quality work products that align with business goals and improve health outcomes through data-driven insights.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement tools using programming languages and Tableau to identify healthcare cost and revenue drivers.
- Develop and provide consultative analytics to support negotiations for value-based arrangements and fee-for-service contracts.
- Evaluate financial impacts of network configurations across various provider types.
- Ensure data credibility and usability prior to delivering analytic results.
- Build relationships with financial, actuarial, and clinical operations teams.
Requirements
- 5+ years of professional experience, with 3+ years focused on healthcare analytics.
- Experience in modeling and pricing large sets of raw medical claims data.
- Intermediate proficiency in MS-SQL, including query creation and editing.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel, including advanced formulas and pivot tables.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience creating and editing Tableau work products.
- Familiarity with CMS and Commercial fee-for-service reimbursement methodologies.
