About the position

The HPCHardware Computer Product Engineer at KLA is responsible for designing and implementing high-performance computing (HPC) server platforms for semiconductor manufacturing. This role involves selecting and integrating components, developing test plans, performing software-hardware co-design, and ensuring the quality and effectiveness of server designs. The engineer will work closely with software applications and third-party suppliers to support customer needs and drive continuous improvement in hardware solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement HPC server platforms for high-volume semiconductor fabs.
  • Select, qualify, and integrate components into the final design considering cost vs. performance trade-offs.
  • Develop and implement test plans to assess the quality of components used in manufacturing.
  • Understand and work closely with software applications hosted on the server platform.
  • Perform software-hardware co-design while minimizing costs.
  • Conduct QA testing of computer hardware and validate target software applications.
  • Evaluate existing server designs and recommend changes for continuous improvement.
  • Work with third-party hardware and software suppliers and system integrators.
  • Own beta installations and support customer field escalations.

Requirements

  • BS/MS in Computer Engineering or related discipline.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience building computer systems running Linux and VMware.
  • Solid understanding of virtualization concepts.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of computer hardware.
  • Experience deploying TCP/IP networking.
  • System administrator level advanced programming skills using scripting languages such as Bash, Perl, etc.

Nice-to-haves

  • Doctorate (Academic) Degree in a related field.
  • Experience in high availability server design.
