About the position

Georgia-Pacific - Sweetwater is seeking a Senior HR Generalist to join our team at the Gypsum Complex in Sweetwater, Texas. This role is pivotal in fostering a strong HR vision and operational strategies within our state-of-the-art gypsum wallboard production facility. The new $315 million plant, built adjacent to the existing facility, is designed to meet the growing demand for gypsum products, with a combined capacity of over 1 billion square feet annually. The Sweetwater location, which employs around 200 team members, is situated 40 miles west of Abilene, Texas, a city with a metropolitan population of nearly 170,000. This position is essential in supporting our non-unionized workforce and enhancing our Principle Based Management (PBM) culture across two manufacturing facilities. As a Senior HR Generalist, you will play a crucial role in employee relations, staffing, retention, and turnover reduction strategies. Your responsibilities will include building credibility and trust with both the workforce and leadership, influencing others as an informal leader, and applying your judgment to develop and coach employees and supervisors on our PBM culture. In addition to advancing our talent position by partnering with staffing support groups and improving our talent acquisition strategies, you will own the hourly staffing process, including forecasting and onboarding effectiveness. You will support performance management and turnover reduction efforts while developing future talent through succession planning. Your role will also involve identifying HR compliance risks and implementing systematic approaches to maintain compliance with various regulations, mentoring leaders on HR compliance, and optimizing processes to eliminate waste. You will thrive in a fast-paced environment, leveraging data-driven solutions to support business objectives and managing multiple priorities effectively. Your engagement with employees at all levels will be vital in understanding their needs and driving continuous improvement within the HR team.
