About the position

As a Senior Human Resource Specialist at Target, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the Global Supply Chain and Logistics business. This position is essential in building the best teams and infusing Target's distinctive retail brand into our HR practices. You will be responsible for providing technical and administrative support to the HR team, which includes maintaining employee records, managing employment orientation, and overseeing compensation and benefits administration. Your role will require you to interact with team members at various levels within the organization, as well as with external candidates, ensuring that staffing needs are met effectively in the distribution center. In this role, you will ensure compliance with Federal and State employment regulations and company policies across all employment areas, including hiring, promotions, transfers, resignations, and terminations. You will also be tasked with executing compensation and benefits programs in a timely manner, maintaining accurate timekeeping and record-keeping practices, and addressing any employee inquiries regarding these programs. Employee training is another critical aspect of your responsibilities, as you will ensure that training programs are executed on schedule and that records of regulatory and corporate training are accurately maintained. Your position will also involve assisting with special projects, which may include coordinating cyclical processes and new initiatives. You will work both independently and collaboratively within a team, sharing ideas and adapting to changes as necessary. Reporting to work on time and completing assigned tasks accurately and promptly will be vital to contributing to the overall success of the distribution center. As a Senior HR Specialist, you will serve as a strategic partner for leadership and a valuable resource for team members, guiding them through organizational changes and helping them achieve their specific business goals. Your contributions will have a significant impact on the overall employee experience at Target.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical and administrative support to the HR team by maintaining employee records accurately.
  • Administer employment orientation and manage compensation/benefits processes.
  • Support staffing needs of the distribution center and ensure compliance with employment regulations.
  • Execute compensation and benefits programs timely and assist with employee inquiries.
  • Ensure accurate record-keeping of regulatory and corporate training programs.
  • Assist with answering employee questions and escalating concerns to leadership as appropriate.
  • Coordinate special projects, including cyclical processes and new initiatives.
  • Work efficiently both individually and as part of a team, sharing ideas and adapting to change.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent experience.
  • 1+ years of administrative experience.
  • Proficient in word processing, spreadsheets, and computer systems (e.g., Excel, Word, O365).
  • Strong customer/client service skills with effective communication abilities (written and verbal).
  • Ability to anticipate problems and escalate when appropriate, demonstrating strong prioritization and organization skills.
  • Ability to work with highly confidential information.
  • Ability to take initiative and make fair and consistent decisions aligned with company strategy and values.
  • Ability to multi-task and be a flexible team player who can adapt to change.
