About the position

As a Senior Human Resource Specialist at Target, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the Human Resources team within our Distribution and Receive Centers. This position is essential in ensuring that our HR operations run smoothly and efficiently, allowing us to focus on our mission of delivering exceptional service to our guests. You will be responsible for maintaining accurate employee records, administering employment orientation, and managing compensation and benefits processes. Your role will also involve supporting cyclical HR processes, handling workers' compensation claims, and ensuring compliance with federal and state employment regulations. In this dynamic environment, you will interact with team members at various levels, from field staff to headquarters, and assist with staffing needs by facilitating employee orientation and ensuring adherence to company policies. You will also oversee the execution of training programs, ensuring that all regulatory and corporate training requirements are met. Your ability to communicate effectively and provide guidance will be crucial in helping team members navigate organizational changes and achieve their business goals. Additionally, you will be involved in special projects that may include the coordination of cyclical processes and new initiatives. Responsibilities

  • Provide technical and administrative support to the HR team by maintaining employee records accurately.
  • Administer employment orientation and manage compensation/benefits processes.
  • Support the execution of cyclical HR processes, including workers' compensation and payroll.
  • Ensure compliance with federal and state employment regulations and company policies in all areas of employment.
  • Assist with staffing needs by ensuring teams are set up for employee orientation.
  • Execute training programs in a timely manner and maintain accurate records of regulatory and corporate trainings.
  • Answer employee questions and escalate concerns to leadership as appropriate.
  • Coordinate special projects, including building cyclical processes and new initiatives.
  • Work efficiently both individually and as part of a team, sharing ideas and adapting to change.
  • Report to work on time and complete job tasks accurately and on time.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent experience.
  • 1+ years of administrative experience.
  • Proficient in word processing, spreadsheets, and computer systems (e.g., Excel, Word, O365).
  • Strong customer/client service skills with the ability to communicate effectively (both written and verbal) with all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to anticipate problems and escalate when appropriate, demonstrating strong prioritization and organization skills.
  • Ability to work with highly confidential information.
  • Ability to take initiative and make fair and consistent decisions that align with company strategy and values.
  • Ability to multi-task and be a flexible team player who can easily adapt to change.
