About the position

The Human Resources Generalist at Precision Castparts Corp. plays a crucial role in supporting various HR functions, including employee engagement, benefits administration, performance management, employee relations, recruitment, and onboarding. This position is essential in ensuring compliance with federal and state employment laws and regulations, as well as the company's internal policies. The HR Generalist will work closely with managers and supervisors to foster a positive work environment that encourages continuous learning and professional development. This role is onsite and reports directly to the Director of Human Resources. In this position, the HR Generalist will be responsible for guiding and supporting performance management processes, ensuring fair and consistent application of disciplinary procedures, and coaching management on effective issue resolution. The role also involves attracting and hiring qualified personnel, facilitating a comprehensive onboarding program for new employees, and coordinating local training workshops. The HR Generalist will respond to inquiries regarding policies and procedures, prepare internal HR documents, and maintain confidentiality and accuracy of employee records throughout their employment. Additionally, the HR Generalist will lead and implement various HR projects and initiatives, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements. This includes preparing and maintaining necessary reports, handling unemployment claims, and providing counsel on employee relations matters. The HR Generalist will also support diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts within the organization, fostering a safe and equitable working environment for all employees. The ability to manage conflict situations and develop effective solutions is essential in this role, as is the capacity to establish and maintain positive relationships with employees across all levels of the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Comply with PCC Code of Conduct requirements and all PCC Rules (e.g., Quality and Safety).
  • Understand, interpret, and ensure compliance with all relevant employment Federal and State legislative requirements.
  • Provide guidance and support on performance management concerns through fair and consistent application of appropriate disciplinary procedures and/or legal requirements.
  • Coach managers & supervisors to assist in their issue resolutions, professional development, and team effectiveness.
  • Foster an environment that encourages continuous learning and growth by working in partnership with managers and supervisors of direct reports to ensure development plans are appropriate, implemented, and completed.
  • Assist with work investigations of employee concerns and discipline.
  • Attract and hire qualified personnel, ensuring the recruitment process for hourly and salaried employees is performed in accordance with legislative and organizational requirements.
  • Provide new employees with a comprehensive onboarding program to enable a smooth transition into the organization.
  • Support coordination of local training workshops and sourcing of L&D options.
  • Communicate, coordinate & schedule various training events.
  • Respond to inquiries regarding policies, procedures, and programs to facilitate consistency and equity.
  • Prepare internal HR related documents including employment, promotion and transfer letters, termination forms.
  • Maintain confidentiality and accuracy of appropriate documentation throughout employment history for all employees.
  • Support/lead and implement various HR projects and initiatives.
  • Facilitate legal and regulatory compliance to all internal and external reporting entities by preparing and maintaining required reports and policies, handling unemployment claims, and conducting required investigations.
  • Provide counsel to the facility on all employee relations matters by being a resource to key stakeholders on the interpretation and application of policies.
  • Demonstrate an in-depth knowledge of workforce relations and how they apply to the organization.
  • Make recommendations on disciplinary matters and attend disciplinary meetings with management when necessary.
  • Assist with positive employee relations and foster a safe working environment that encourages equal employment opportunities for all staff.
  • Support/lead efforts regarding DE&I initiatives.
  • Provide regulatory and policy advice on workforce-related matters.
  • Demonstrate confidence in managing conflict situations and develop solutions in the best interest of stakeholders.
  • Maintain a calm, professional attitude and approach in emotional and complex situations.
  • Establish and maintain good relationships with all employees and listen to and respond to concerns in a timely manner.
  • Partner with the Division's Payroll team to process payroll locally.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Industrial Relations, Business or related field or equivalent experience.
  • 3 to 5 years of generalist experience including benefits, recruiting, and employee relations.
  • Ability to interpret and administer terms and conditions of employee handbook.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead people and get results through others.
  • Knowledge of company and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality with sensitive information.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with employees relative to benefits.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet constant deadlines.
  • Knowledge of benefits practices and procedures.
  • Knowledge of COBRA, FMLA, HIPAA.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with employees, management, and outside contacts.
  • Proficient with MS Office (Excel, Access, Word) and Oracle applications.
  • Ability and desire to learn various functions within the HR department.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
