About the position

The Sr. Human Resources Generalist at Neurocrine Biosciences plays a crucial role in supporting the HR function, particularly in General and Administrative (G&A) areas. This position involves collaborating with the HR Director to implement HR strategies, manage programs, and enhance employee engagement. The role requires a strategic mindset, strong understanding of compliance regulations, and proficiency in benefits and compensation administration, making it essential for driving performance and capability within the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary contact for consulting and advising managers and employees on employee relations issues, including investigations and conflict resolution.
  • Administer HR programs such as Performance, Talent & Succession, and Compensation Review for designated client groups under supervision.
  • Partner with staff and stakeholders to ensure engagement and facilitate change.
  • Understand business and HR strategies and their interrelation.
  • Articulate HR advice in the context of business goals and objectives.
  • Communicate effectively about current business issues and the role of HR initiatives in achieving objectives.
  • Constructively challenge business stakeholders when discussing potential solutions.
  • Navigate complex HR situations and contribute to decision-making processes.
  • Participate as a strategic business partner in designing and evaluating multi-functional solutions to business problems.
  • Utilize critical thinking to analyze HR data and identify trends for improvement.
  • Communicate clearly and succinctly, ensuring key points are understood.
  • Maintain high comprehension of FMLA/ADA regulations and manage leave requests and accommodations.
  • Advise managers and employees on compensation, benefits, and employee services, providing necessary training.
  • Proactively raise initiatives and concerns at appropriate times with relevant audiences.
  • Take ownership of client group programs from inception to completion with minimal direction.
  • Actively participate in client group meetings to understand needs and challenges.
  • Collaborate with HR team members and cross-functional partners to support organizational goals.
  • Stay updated on HR laws, regulations, and best practices for compliance and improvement.
  • Assist with other tasks or special projects as assigned by the manager.

Requirements

  • BS/BA degree in Human Resources or related field and 4+ years of progressively responsible experience in human resources, or a Master's degree in Human Resources or related field and 2+ years of related experience.
  • PHR, SPHR, or SHRM-CP certification is highly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of FMLA/ADA regulations.
  • Proficiency in benefits and compensation administration.
  • Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • High emotional intelligence and ability to navigate sensitive situations with empathy and professionalism.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and influence at all levels of the organization.
  • Proven track record of successfully managing programs or projects from start to finish.
  • Excellent computer skills, strong knowledge in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to meet multiple deadlines with a high degree of accuracy and efficiency.
  • Excellent presentation, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Comprehensive knowledge and expertise in legal risk assessment and application of employment law in HR situations.
  • Strong understanding and practical application of federal, state, and local labor regulations.
