About the position

Amazon Robotics is seeking a motivated and hands-on Test Engineer to join the hardware test engineering team. This role is designed for test engineers with a mechanical engineering foundation who are eager to work in a multi-disciplinary environment focused on advancing robotics technology. The engineer will be responsible for creating test strategies, improving existing methodologies, and developing new fixtures and equipment to ensure the delivery of safe, high-quality, and robust solutions for the Amazon fulfillment network.

Responsibilities

  • Work with program teams and development engineering to create test strategies to inform development and verify requirements.
  • Improve existing test methodologies and create new techniques.
  • Develop new fixtures and equipment for testing.
  • Provide data to inform design decisions throughout the development cycle.
  • Write test plans and gather data in lab environments.
  • Design and build new fixtures and help debug early prototypes.

Requirements

  • Experience in developing functional specifications, design verification plans, and functional test procedures.
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Experience working in new technology or product development.
  • Experience in 3D CAD (SolidWorks preferred).
  • Design experience of simple parts, assemblies, and fixtures.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience with Electro-Mechanical systems.
  • Ability and desire to work hands-on in lab environments.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with the project management of technical projects.
  • Experience designing and planning test conditions, test scripts, and test data sets.
  • Deep hands-on technical expertise in testing of electro-mechanical systems.
  • Experience writing test reports analyzing data.
  • Experience in automation or robotic systems.
  • Experience with FEA (Ansys and/or SW Simulation).
  • Understanding of safety systems.
  • Basic coding/scripting capabilities.
  • Experience creating test plans derived from functional design requirements.
